Artistry Of Time
Mineralogy: Fire Agate
From the Commodore Mine near Creede, Colorado, this ore occurs in the Amethyst Vein. The mine produces many sulfide ores which are dissolved in the mine water. In due time, these solutions will cover some of the existing amethyst crystals. When the water evaporates, it leaves the iron chemicals which stains the crystals. In this instance, the primary color of the stain is yellow.
